**update** i'm thinking about being a tonberry....
comic-con is approaching and i've still no clue what to go as. its no longer about the booths, the insider previews, or screaming wildly at mike nelson from the last row of the conference room. not like.... .it ever was. but now i've a reputation to keep up. the latex girl has to have a significantly improved costume each year for the main event. gah....and i've got no idea what to do. i'm lending an ear to any suggestions all y'alls might have.....
here's my challenge, i need a costume that physically fills these parameters:
*must be portable, i need it to fit in a suitcase to fly over to san-dego
*has to be fitting for a dumpy monotone cynic white girl, i wanted to do an alien drone but i'm neither 7 feet tall or 90 lbs. so no bodygloves, leotards, cat ears, or mini skirts.....dear god no... think....... jabba. only...smaller
*latex-heavy, lots of fun organic elements instead of specific clothes or machinery
* if possible, it'd be great if this would fit in with the renaissance fair and dragoncon theme as well.
if i had more clay and animatronic experience, i'd love to be some akira-type mutant with three sets of teeth cascading down my neck and a bloated arm carrying test tubes of body parts, but it doesnt fit with the other conventions anyway for the effort. if i had some welding experience and lotsa extra foam, i'd go as a skeksis but i dunno how i'd pack it....
really, what i'm ideally suited for is some character with a fun animally-shoulder pet. some dragon or ..daxter or something that requires alot of sculpting and latex work, but a small impressive product. Or possibly a humanoid with a normal body but a freaky head, like the ugly nurses in twilight zone or any given star trek alien. i was even thinking of going as a eco-terrorist from cowboy bebop with the sea rat masks, but i think that's too obscure even for me....
